Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 25, 2020

In effect as of: October 25, 2020

This Privacy Policy describes Our policies and procedures on the collection, use and disclosure of Your information when You use the Website and tells You about Your privacy rights and how the law protects You.

We use Your Personal data to provide and improve the Website. By using the Website, You agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. This Privacy Policy has been adapted from that created by the Privacy Policy Generator.

Overview / Summary

My intent with this policy is to reassure you that my data needs are simple, non-invasive and routine, but also to protect myself legally as needed to run my business and website.

I use Squarespace to build my website, provide data and analytics and similar services, and I further use Google for services including at least Gmail, reCAPTCHA, data storage and fonts (fonts may also use Adobe). I expect both these companies hire more security engineers than I could, so this should be a win for both of us, but they may use cookies, see your personal data, IP address, or things you write into my forms, etc. If that concerns you, you can and should consult further details below and Squarespaces’ Terms and Privacy Policy or Google’s Terms and Privacy Policy as you see fit. You should also be aware that those terms or policies apply for your use of this Website. Squarespace conveniently has further details about its cookie use. My choice in these essential Service Providers may change with time, but they will remain similarly strong, reliable and reputable.

Besides the above, and routine website usage data like IP addresses or clicks that most websites routinely collect, the main source of data I receive from my Website is quite simply any information you explicitly provide, such as through the “Contact Me” form. You shouldn’t give me any information, especially personal or identifiable, that you don’t want me to have. If you give me your email address through the contact me form, then (unless I’m confident it is spam) I will email you back at that address to get in touch, but I won’t send newsletters or bulk email for now and will seek separate opt-in if I ever grow into that stuff.

My use of essential Service Providers like Google and Squarespace for direct processing/storage/etc notwithstanding, I won’t sell or share this data, especially names or contact info, unless either 1) required to by law/government/taxes/etc or in the necessary course of defending or dissolving the company or 2) with your explicit permission for a specific agreed purpose. Should my plans in this regard ever change, existing paying customers under this version of the policy will need to opt-in before their personal data will be otherwise shared through any future policy change (ie, you get to be ‘grandfathered’ if you want).

Children not older than 13 years should not use this Website or submit Personal Data (have a parent do so on your behalf instead) and we will delete all such info in our control if notified.

Note: If we meet virtually, for example through Zoom or Skype, their Terms of Service and Privacy Policies or similar notices will apply to Your and Our use, although these services are outside the scope of my Website.
